After the unveiling of the BMW Vision iNext in four cities around the world – Munich, New York, San Francisco and Beijing – BMW's new futuristic electric car has landed in Los Angeles for the annual auto show. Before the show started, BMW invited journalists from around the world to experiment with the iNEXT concept.
The BMW iNext is powered by the new generation BMW electric drive. It combines the ability to accelerate in less than four seconds to 100 km / h with a range well over 600 km. From the point of view of the BMW Group, iNext does not focus on electric propulsion, however, because in 2021, it will already be the new standard in the company.
Another technology on which BMW works with the iNEXT is the autonomy. All automakers are working on autonomous driving and the iNEXT will be BMW's first level 3 autonomous car. BMW works there, creating essentially different levels of autonomy that can be purchased by customers, the main obstacle for Bavarians being government regulation, not technology.
Because the iNext has to free the driver from driving in many situations, the badpit has been designed differently from today's BMW. It is more like a living room or a living room than a vehicle with a badpit.
The reduced design, however, does not involve less technology: Shy-Tech is what BMW calls the concept of high-tech packaging discreetly, making it virtually invisible. The wooden surface of the center console and certain areas of the fabric cover of the rear seat are touch sensitive and, like today's touch pads, are the control of the infotainment system. In addition, there is of course also a voice and gesture control for all functions, with no input device visible at first glance.
BMW has chosen to give the Vision iNEXT Concept a cross body style, or SAV (Sports Activity Vehicle in the language of BMW), to give it a "pioneering" look. Visually, we already know what it looks like. However, these new real photos give us a better rendering. It's certainly an interesting design, although it's not the most exciting.
