The covers came out of the new Kia Soul at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show, the Korean automaker describing the third-generation model as a "completely new but familiar" vehicle.
The latest Soul retains its square dimensions, but is slightly longer than before, at 4,196 mm. Although the width and height of the vehicle remain unchanged, the wheelbase has been increased from 30 to 2,600 mm. According to Kia, the luggage compartment opening is wider and lower and includes a two-level cargo tray.
The new Soul features slim daytime running lights, a wider grille (two-color treatment), mounting points for roof rack, three-dimensional wrap-around taillights and a new distinctive trim for C-pillar, completed with the new logo "Soul".
Engines on the US market will include a 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol engine and a 1.6-liter, 1.6-liter turbocharged engine (coupled with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission). A new Soul EV will also be available in some markets.
Inside, the American model will be available with a 10.25-inch color touchscreen (as featured in a previous teaser), an infotainment system incorporating Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, as well as an iPad. an eight-inch head-up display.
It's worth noting that a new X-Line model (shown below) will also be on offer, with bodywork wrapping, reinforced fenders, offroad-inspired accents, model-specific 18-inch alloys, and two-tone paint in option.
