Kia unveiled the all-new Soul EV at the 2018 Auto Show, a brand new iteration of Kia's compact zero-emission crossover.

New Generation Battery Pack The Soul EV is equipped with a new 64 kWh lithium-ion polymer battery pack, with a significantly improved battery life compared to the outgoing model.

This increased battery life dramatically reduces the need for daily recharging – and a CCS-compliant high-speed charging system, mounted as standard, means shorter shutdowns and faster battery charging.

The car is currently undergoing tests to determine its estimated autonomy. The battery life should be announced in early 2019.

More fun than ever

The Soul EV has always provided a comfortable and refined ride, progressing silently with seemingly effortless traction. Now, with 204 ps and 395 Nm of torque (285 Nm in the outgoing model), the car accelerates even more strongly.

The adoption of the new fully independent rear suspension also significantly improved handling and driving dynamics. The Soul EV also gives drivers plenty of tools to customize their driving experience and battery usage, with four driving modes – Eco, Comfort, Sport and Eco + – that automatically adjust the power delivered to the traction motor.

The driving modes also control the proposed regenerative braking level, air conditioning and heating parameters, and allow drivers to set speed limits to manage operating efficiency under different driving conditions.

The Soul EV's intelligent regenerative braking is controlled by steering wheel speed selectors, which allows drivers to slow down the car and capture more kinetic energy, giving them greater autonomy.

Drivers can choose from four levels of regenerative braking (0 to 3), depending on the flexibility, pleasure and desired driving efficiency. The regenerative braking system also includes a braking and holding system that allows drivers to use the shift paddles to immobilize the car during kinetic energy recovery.

In addition, the intelligent regenerative braking system adjusts the braking level according to the vehicle detected in front of the Soul EV, allowing for a smoother ride on the hill, especially when descending a steep road.

The system is badociated with a Smart Eco Pedal Guide screen located on the instrument cluster, which allows the driver to keep abad of battery usage in real time based on the input of the accelerator pedal.

Soul EV design highlights

The Soul EV features a brand new exterior design that stays true to the square origins of the car – a distinctive look loved by legions of fans around the world. The Soul EV is built with the same architecture but is impregnated with a unique style, which gives it a personal touch.

Safety is one of the priorities of all new Kia models, and Soul EV is no exception. Depending on the market, the car is equipped with up to seven airbags, as well as several security systems.

These include Antilock Braking, Traction Control, Electronic Stability Control, Slope Start Assist Control, Pedestrian Alert System and Tire Pressure Monitoring System.

Active safety is just as important, the soul being available with a range of advanced driver badistance systems, depending on the market. Available systems include Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Forward Collision Avoidance Assist (FCA), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), l & # 39; Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Driver Warning Warning, Intelligent Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Blind Spot Warning (BSW), Rear Collision Alert (available) and Alert from parking in the opposite direction.

The Soul EV is unique in its kind with a revamped UVO telematics system, allowing owners to monitor and control a wide range of vehicle operations. Drivers have access to battery status and charging status notifications, real-time updates of charging stations, and scheduled charging functionality.

The panic notifications allow the vehicle to send an alert to the server if the panic alarm is triggered, by calling the emergency services and indicating the position of the car via GPS: a microphone in Direct allows rescuers to communicate with the occupants of the vehicle.
