Porsche has released a new car to tempt racing enthusiasts.

The German automaker surprised visitors at the 2018 show in Los Angeles on Wednesday with the revelation of the 911 GT2 RS Clubsport, a new racing variant of the 911 GT2 RS outgoing Generation 991 designed for sports-club style events, such as than those organized by Porsche Club of America, as well as a potential future series organized by the OSR.

The 911 GT2 RS Clubsport retains the 700-horsepower, 700-hp, 6.8-liter, 6-speed, 7-speed dual-clutch transmission from its on-road counterpart. However, almost everything else has been stripped or improved. The car now weighs only 3.064 pounds.

A roll bar was welded and Recaro's unique carbon fiber racing seat was equipped with a 6-point safety harness. The standard fuel tank has been replaced by a 115-liter FT3 safety fuel cell and an air trap system has also been installed.

The suspension at both ends (MacPherson strut and multi-link rear) includes 3-way stroke dampers, anti-roll bars and an adjustable height, camber and track. Each corner supports an 18-inch wheel with a center nut and front one-piece 6-piston stroke calipers and 15.4-inch discs and rear 4-piston calipers with discs 15 inches.
