A man suspected of being in his fifties was killed on Saturday afternoon during a plane hijacking on Kies Avenue in Resevoir Hills, paramedics said in KwaZulu-Natal. .

The incident occurred shortly after 1:00 pm, said Rescue Care spokeswoman Garrith Jamieson.

Jamieson stated that paramedics responded to several calls and arrived at the scene to find the man seriously injured on the ground.

He added that the man had been shot in the upper part of his chest.

"He was in a state of cardiac arrest and paramedics in intensive care, as well as a trauma doctor was working on this man for nearly thirty minutes, but they failed." This man succumbed to his wounds, he was declared dead on the spot. "

"At this point, the events that led to the shooting can not be confirmed, but Sydenham SAPS was on the scene and will continue his investigations."
