Motorists can expect a reduction in the price of gasoline from 1.85 rupees per liter, with a drop in diesel estimated at 1.40 rand and a drop in paraffin lighting at 1.28 rupee , announced Wednesday the Automobile Association.
The badociation commented on the unverified fuel price data released at the end of the month by the Central Energy Fund.
With these expected declines, fuel prices will return to levels seen around mid-2018.
The AA warned that the "mbadive" drop in fuel prices could, however, be tempered by adjustments to the margins of retailers and wholesalers and by the possible retention of the slate levy.
The slate tax, according to the AA, is used to offset the losses resulting from the under-recovery of the price of fuel when the cumulative balances of gasoline and diesel exceed 250 M €. At the end of September, the negative balance was R2.2 billion, apparently offset by a slate tax of 21.92 cents in November.
"The pendulum drive
fuel price over the past year has shown how much the impact of
international oil price and the rand / dollar exchange rate is about life
ordinary citizens. Fuel pricing outlooks until 2019 remain cloudy,
but we hope that stability will regain some stability, "said AA.
