Alexander also praised the Springbok wing, Aphiwe Dyantyi, who won the World Rugby Player of the Year trophy in Monaco on Sunday night.
"Despite his limited international experience, Aphiwe never seemed uncomfortable with the Springbok jersey and he had an immediate impact, marking a start for the Boks against the England in June.
"It's his two trials in Wellington, however, when the Boks beat the All Blacks in New Zealand for the first time in nine years, which will remain the best for his superb start to the season Test.
"He finished top scorer in the Rugby Championship, which is a great achievement for a novice player, we are all very proud of him and we can not wait to see the same in 2019," said Alexander.
Although they did not claim prizes, Alexander also congratulated the other South African nominees – Malcolm Marx and Faf de Klerk (World Rugby Year Player), Erasmus (l & # 39; coach of the year), the Springboks (the team of the year).
According to Alexander, these nominations indicate that the Springboks are on track for next year's World Cup in Japan.
Ireland won the team of the year award, flyweight Johnny Sexton, player of the year and coach Joe Schmidt, the coach of the year award.
