LIMPOPO – A second case of cholera has been confirmed in the commune of Blouberg, confirmed the health department of Limpopo.
Ministry spokesman Neil Shikwambana said the case concerned a Zambian migrant worker who worked on a game farm in the area. "The patient recently returned home and, on his return, did not feel well, consulted a doctor and was admitted to Helen Franz Hospital. After taking a sample, a case of cholera was confirmed, "Shikwambana said.
The patient is recovering well at Helene Franz hospital.
This comes after another migrant farm worker from Zimbabwe, working and living in Alldays, was diagnosed with cholera earlier this month.

"The department has already conducted a thorough investigation in the areas where the two patients stay and where there are leaders in the field of health promotion:
The department wishes to call on community members to maintain hygienic practices and healthy hygiene practices such as:
• Wash hands after using soap and running water
• wash your hands before and after meals
• Wash vegetables and fruits before eating
• Drink safe spring water or sterilize / boil before consumption
• Make sure the food is cooked properly
Symptoms include sudden watery diarrhea with or without vomiting or severe dehydration
"The department calls anyone suffering from any of these symptoms to go quickly to the nearest health facility," concluded Shikwambana.
