Cape Town – The Springboks have been involved in a bomb threat on the eve of their test against Wales in Cardiff, according to reports.

The Daily Mail reports that on Friday, the hotel's Bok team had to be evacuated when a suspicious package was found in the laundry room of one of the players.

The object, which turned out to be a turning clock, was found by a member of the hotel staff while the Boks were racing their captain.

According to the report, the police were called immediately and proceeded to evacuate the hotel before traveling to the Principality Stadium to speak to the Boks.

Three Bok players, including center Jesse Kriel, were then brought back to the teams' hotel for questioning.

"On Friday, November 23 at 2 pm, our cleaning team discovered a suspicious package in one of the bedrooms," according to a statement from the Hilton Hotel.

"She warned the management of the hotel and, in accordance with our protocol, we evacuated the rooms above and below the floor in question and immediately contacted the police.

"They investigated quickly and, fortunately, they quickly gave the green light."

The Boks then lost 20 to 11 to Wales on Saturday. Kriel scored the only try of the game for visitors.
