The new Walking Dead season had its share of drama, but viewers did not gather to watch the series.
This season has proved difficult in terms of ranking.
There were worries that the show would see a significant drop in its rating after the departure of Rick Grimes (played by Andrew Lincoln).
These worries proved true after the mid-season final of this season became the lowest rated in the series' history.
The mid-season finale, entitled Evolution, saw the Whisperers making their long-awaited entry, but viewers did not seem too embarrbaded by this.
Deadline reported that the episode had scored a score of 2.0 and an audience of 5.1 million.
It's a nice fall from the Season 2 season 2 finale, which held the record with 6.62 million viewers.
That said, this is not all bad news since the series recorded an 8% increase in the number of adults aged 18 to 49 compared to the episode last week.
It's also always one of CMA's best shows, and it's unlikely they want to get rid of one of their shows that attracts the biggest audiences.
It was suggested that the show be paused shortly after the release of Rick Grimes.
"We will certainly tell the story of what happened there and what is rather exciting about a six-year jump is that it is possible to go back and tell some of these stories, "she told Entertainment Weekly.
She continued, "We'll see what happened."
"But it's a profound and moving story for Michonne and for Daryl too.
"I'm so glad people are experiencing that."
The new Walking Dead season continues tonight on AMC and tonight at 21h Monday on FOX in the UK. Seasons 1-8 are available in streaming on NOW TV.
