Cape Town – Cricket South Africa (CSA) learned with shock and sadness the sudden death of Michael Doman at the age of 57 Sunday evening after a brief disease.
He represented both Western Province and Transvaal in the first-clbad Howa Bowl competition as an average drummer in 14 matches between 1977 and 1983 before his career was interrupted by a serious injury to back.
was part of the Western Province Cricket Board team that was the dominant force in the South African Cricket Board competitions.
He later became a cricket specialist for the Cape Argus before being named sports editor. He was the Cape Town Sports Coordinator for independent newspapers at the time of his death.
"Michael contributed greatly to cricket, first as a player and then as a journalist," commented the general manager of the ACS. He was a true professional whose writings were highly respected by players and administrators.
"On behalf of the CSA family, I offer my deepest condolences to his family, his friends and his many colleagues in the world of crickets and the media.
