Johannesburg – It's never nice to see a car in ruins, but when it comes to an exotic of the kind that makes you dream, it becomes more painful for the followers of persuasion.

Such was the fate of a Ferrari 488 Spider Red over the weekend, as shown by these images posted on Twitter by Reza (@crimeairnetwork).

According to the report, the driver "would have lost control of the vehicle at high speed in front of the Houghton Golf Club Johannesburg.

The impact tore a large part of the front of the Ferrari, but fortunately no human casualty was reported, the badpit remained intact and stable during the impact.

It will be an expensive mess though. The 488 Spider, launched in South Africa in May 2016, is currently selling at 5.8 million rand.

The open-top supercar is powered by a 3.9-liter V8 turbocharged engine producing 492 kW and 760 Nm, enough to get the horse from 0 to 100 km / h in just three seconds and 200 km / h in just 8.7 s, according to the company's claims, while the maximum speed is indicated at 325 km / h.

To reduce weight, the car is a mixture of expensive and lightweight materials, including 11 types of aluminum alloys, some combined with other metals such as magnesium.

As expected, the judges and the Social Media Jury spent a busy day with it, posting comments such as:

"I'm sure it'll disappear …"

"More money than skills …"

"I hope it's not at Momentum"

"Too many horses there for the untrained foot!"
