Honor 8X – A good argument against paying more than 6,000 rand for a smartphone

[ad_1]

Honor has launched its 8X smartphone in South Africa, a mid-priced device that offers a range of premium features.

Honor, which is a brand of the Huawei group, said the 8X would sell at 5,499 rand, which would make it a very attractive alternative to Huawei, Samsung and Apple's more expensive handsets.

Despite the lower prices, the Honor 8X does not lack features, and the first thing you notice about the device is its big, clear screen.

The 8X features a 6.5-inch (2340 x 1080) 1080p display in a stylish case with a small notch and thin frames.

Honor said the phone had a screen / body ratio of 91% and a 19.5: 9 aspect ratio, which makes the front of the camera almost entirely on the screen.

The smartphone also incorporates the company's GPU Turbo technology to improve graphics performance, as well as 4GB of RAM and a Kirin 710 processor, which means that the hardware needed for the display to function properly is present.

Two rear cameras with AI photography enhancements, a face recognition system and a fingerprint sensor on the back, 64GB of storage and microSD support, LTE cellular support and a 3.750 mAh battery are other key features that make the Honor 8X impressive on the paper.

Smartphone price

These features, combined with a price of R5,499, make the Honor 8X a good argument against paying R15,000 or R20,000 for a flagship smartphone – which is currently the trend in South Africa.

While high-end devices from leading brands like Apple offer powerful performance, great features, and status, the Honor 8X looks like a top-of-the-line device while delivering more power than most users .

The fact that the 8X works with EMUI 8.2 – the Android 8 operating system with Huawei's skin – adds to this argument because it offers almost all the software features and applications you'll need.

WhatsApp, Uber, Facebook, Instagram, email and other staples are all supported on the device.

This deliberate game of Honor aims to offer flagship experiences at lower prices, which could work well in South Africa due to the strong financial pressure of consumers in recent years.
