Another batch of products was added to the list of items already recalled by manufacturers and supermarkets about the potentially fatal Listeria outbreak.
It mainly concerns frozen foods, mainly containing vegetables.
And the latest recalls affect shoppers in supermarkets such as Tesco, Aldi, Lidl, Waitrose and Sainsbury's.
Listeria are named after the bacterium that causes them – Listeria monocytogenes
. They can cause listeriosis, a rare but potentially very serious disease that is transmitted through food.
Around the world, 11 people are thought to have died from deadly bacteria, two of these British nationals, according to Liverpool Echo.
It can be dangerous for people who have a weakened immune system, as well as the elderly, pregnant women and infants.
The Food Standards Agency issued a food alert stating Greenyard Frozen UK Ltd took the precautionary step of voluntarily recalling various frozen plant products because they could contain Listeria bacteria monocytogenes.
The update yesterday included the Lidl Corners 1KG Supersweet Frozen Green Grocer for all batch codes and all codes up to July 2020 inclusive.

"Symptoms caused by this organism may resemble those of influenza and include high temperatures, muscle aches or pains, chills, sensations or vomiting, and diarrhea
" Some people are more vulnerable to Listeria infections. including people over 65, pregnant women and their unborn babies, babies under one month old and people whose immune systems are weakened.
