Manchester United has triggered an option in David De Gea's contract that will keep him at the club until 2020, sources told ESPN FC.
The goalkeeper's agreement was to end this summer, but United has decided to extend it by 12 months.
Negotiations are underway for a new long term contract for De Gea, arrived at Old Trafford from Atletico Madrid in 2011.
