Marcelino, the Valencia coach, lamented the absence of VAR in the Champions League this year after the controversial winner of Manchester United winner Marouane Fellaini.
Fellaini appeared to manage the ball before scoring a goal in United's Group H 1-0 win over the Young Boys at Old Trafford.
United's victory forced Valencia to finish in third place and an elimination in the group stage, following their 1-0 defeat by Juventus in Turin the same evening.
If Fellaini's goal had been rejected, Valencia and United would have played for second place in group H in their last group match at Mestalla on 12 December.
"If the goal of Manchester United was marked by a handball, you become even more angry," said Marcelino Tuesday night.
"The small detail is important, and the odd thing is that VAR is not in such a big competition, it's not a consolation for us, but it's football.
"We wanted to continue in the Champions League," he added. "It's a very important competition, and when we have to play in the Europa League, we will do it in order to reach as far as possible."
Fellaini denied deliberately manipulating the ball when he was questioned about his goal after United's win. The Belgian international told BT Sport: "If it touched my hand, it was not done on purpose."
The VAR should be introduced into the Champions League early in the 2019-2020 season, although officials have recently stated that the video viewing system could be implemented in the final rounds of this year's competition.
