Mark Cavendish knew he was going to be disqualified at the 11th stage of the Tour de France, but the Brit finished the race anyway.
Cavendish was disqualified from the race after missing the allotted time, crossing the line one hour five minutes and 33 seconds after stage winner Geraint Thomas.
Although he knew that he would not make the cut, Cavendish was determined to finish the stage – to the delight of viewers, fans and experts

The time required behind the stage winner was set at 31:27, and the Dimension Data Rider would have been well aware of its imminence disqualification
The sprint specialist, who has 30 wins to his name, was out-of-form at this year's edition, failing to fight for victory in the trays.

Also out of the race, his teammate Mark Renshaw and the German Marcel Kittel, winner of 14 stages of the Tour
Thomas, who won the Dauphine Criterium last month while Froome at rest after winning the Giro d'Italia, took the 11th stage of the Tour with an impressive attack in the last climb to snatch the yellow jersey.
He leads his teammate Froome for one minute 25 seconds overall.
The four-time champion Froome is however the most experienced driver, having already won the three major tours.
"Froomey is the leader He has won six major tours, he knows how to do a three-week run," said Thomas at a press conference.
"I had an opportunity.Froomey knows how to win a three-week race.For me, it's already a success.Froomey is still our best chance."
Sky's Position , however, is a nightmare for their rivals, who in the past have struggled to destabilize the British team when Froome, who was whitened from a suspicion of doping within the week.
The 12th stage of the Tour will continue overnight with a 175.5km race between Bourg-St-Maurice Les Arcs and Alpe d'Huez
