- Fast food chains Chicken Licken and Nando & # 39; s both broadcast TV ads with political messages.
- Nando's highlights South African prejudices, while Chicken Chicken gives a new twist to colonialism.
- We were completely divided when we had to choose one of our favorites.
Both Nando & # 39; s fast food chains and Chicken Licken have released new TV commercials that will allow you to see South Africa from a different angle.
Nando's publicity mocks stereotypes and prejudices among South Africans. It presents the indignation of people to be stereotyped – but then shows that they too have prejudices. Throughout the advertisement, the indignant begin their speeches with the phrase "You others".
"It's a phrase that goes along with an unconscious bias," said Doug Place, marketing manager at Nando.
"We are all guilty of this, some more than others," he says.
Meanwhile, the new Chicken Licken advertisement tells the story of "Big John's". who leaves South Africa in 1650 for an adventurous quest.
He travels the world, meeting all kinds of challenges, including sharks and giant squids.

Finally, in 1651, he arrived in a Dutch port and to the great surprise of the inhabitants decide to colonize the country.

What is the best?
Both advertisements are funny and provocative.
Chicken advertising gives a breathtaking glimpse of colonialism, while Nando's requires you to look at your own prejudices.
In recent years, Poulet Poulet and Nando have been careful not to be mischievous in their quarrels with South Africans – but they have always managed to spark conversations and force South Africans to think otherwise.
For us, both advertisements did exactly that, making it difficult for us to choose a favorite. In fact, our office was divided in two.
?? Nando's and Chicken Licken both drop their shameless political TV commercials – we had a hard time choosing our favorites ??
