The Japanese automaker has announced that "completely redesigned" fourth-generation models will be deployed in global markets early in 2019.

Boosting the latest version of the brand's Skyactiv-Vehicle architecture, the Mazda3's new powertrain lineup will include Skyactiv-G gasoline engines, Skyactiv-D diesel units as well as the new powerplant Skyactiv-X, which will become the first gasoline mill in the world. use compression ignition.

Gasoline engines will still include (depending on the market, of course) units of 1.5, 2.0 and 2.5 liters, while the example of fuel oil consists of a 1.8 liter mill. Transmission options will include a six-speed manual gearbox and an automatic sprocket gear with the same number of gears.

Mazda explains that its new models have adopted a more "mature" version of the Kodo design language. It is interesting to note that the firm claims that five-door and four-door sedan models have "distinct personalities", the design of the former being described as "dynamic" and that of the latter as "elegant".

While the two body models have a wheelbase of 2,725 mm, the tailgate is 4,459 mm long, 1,797 mm wide and 1,440 mm high. The sedan, meanwhile, measures 4,662 mm between the nose and tail and some five millimeters more than the hatch (and the same width).
