A red Ferrari convertible worth more than $ 5 million was written off in Houghton, apparently this weekend.
Crime report Twitter account Reza shared pictures of the wreck on Twitter on Sunday.
The driver reportedly "lost control because of the high speed" in front of the Houghton Golf Course.
In one picture, we see the sports car being loaded onto a flat roof tow truck.
Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar, spokesman for the JMPD, told News24 that he was not aware of the incident.
"The car may have been towed without the JMPD being informed," Minnaar said.
He would investigate, said Minnaar.
The wreck supercar is a Ferrari 488 Spider, which was launched in South Africa in 2016, reported Wheels24.
It is powered by the 3902cc turbo-powered V8 of the coupe, with a maximum power of 492 kW and a maximum of 760 Nm. This sports car offers fast acceleration times: from 0 to 100 km / h in 3 seconds and up to 200 km / h in 8.7 s.
It uses a retractable hardtop that can be raised or lowered in 14 seconds; even when the car is driving. Its price is from R5.5m.
Twitter users have made fun of this costly crash, with one of them stating that "it could possibly be eliminated".
I'm sure it will disappear …
