JOHANNESBURG – Joburg Water has said residents should stock up on water before Monday, in case the planned disturbance of 54 hours of water is prolonged.
Rand Water, which supplies the municipalities of Gauteng, planned to close its main pipeline next week to install a valve.
Water pressure would be affected while faucets could dry out if residents do not use the resource sparingly.
Environment and Infrastructure MMC Nico de Jager said, "We do not plan to go beyond the schedule, but if that happens, we encourage our residents to save water and reserve in advance.
Other Gauteng municipalities receiving Rand Water services would also be involved.
