A study found that Manchester City players earned less than half a million pounds a year less than the stars of Manchester United.
The Global Sports Salaries Survey Survey revealed that City, winner of the Premier League last season, spent an average of £ 5,993,000 per year on player salaries, while United ranks first in the Premier's salary range. League with an average expenditure of 6,534,654.
This suggests that City's spending was more efficient than that of their Old Trafford counterparts, with Jose Mourinho's team languishing in seventh place in the Premier League, 14 points behind City who set the tone for the league.
City outclbaded United in the Manchester Derby earlier this month, winning a 3-1 win at Etihad. The Blues are on track to retain their Premier League title for the first time in the club's history.
And City fans have happily reacted to the news on Twitter.
