SA Post Office says it has cleared its backlog

The South African Post (SAPO) has eliminated the order backlog in its deposits, which has affected the delivery of items to customers.

In a statement released Thursday, November 29, SAPO said domestic shipments had been standardized to meet regulatory standards last week and that these services amounted to predictable daily transportation to their destinations.

"The SA Post Office has worked tirelessly to solve the problems behind the backlog of treatment. It is nice to say that these problems have now been solved and that the backlog is resolved, "said CEO Mark Barnes.

"La Poste SA deeply regrets the difficulties and inconveniences caused to our customers during this period.

"The organization acknowledges that the original schedule that it provided as the expected period in which it would resolve the backlog did not accurately anticipate the impact of additional incoming material volumes on its operational resources. The current influx of articles has reached 2.8 million items a day, "he said.

The SAPO had previously announced that its deposits were accumulating processing delays due to a month-long domestic industrial action that had been resolved in July, as well as withdrawal of transportation services by its suppliers, whose payments had been delayed.

He indicated that he had now made permanent operational interventions in the value chain of deliveries to ensure shorter turnaround times.

"International mail processing has improved and late delivery items have dropped significantly. The volume of international mail available is 1.3 million, "said Barnes.

"We expect processing of international shipments to be addressed in the standards once more interventions are fully implemented. We have designated a dedicated processing line to accelerate the processing of small purchases based on online purchases which constitute the bulk of international volumes in stock.
