Ferrari had the fastest car in the first two races of the season.

However, Mercedes has a 100% double and will look for a similar result at the Chinese Grand Prix this weekend.

Vettel is under increasing pressure to end the drought that has plagued Ferrari for 12 years.

And 2016 F1 champion Rosberg thinks his former Mercedes team-mate Hamilton could face a tough battle this time around.

"It's just a phase Sebastian is going through," Rosberg told Press Association Sport.

"This is a problem that all athletes face when things do not always go according to plan.

"You have to get out of this phase and Sebastian is four-time world champion, so I'm sure he'll be able to handle that.

"He has to enter a positive spiral again, all that is needed in Formula 1 is a good race, so if he wins in China, he will leave."

Vettel has not finished on the podium this season yet.

And that's one of the reasons why Rosberg thinks Hamilton will win his sixth world title.

"Mercedes had the best start to the season in terms of points, but it looks like Ferrari has the best car," added Rosberg.

"In Bahrain, Ferrari allowed Sebastian and Charles to run freely, but they have two competitive drivers, so it will be so difficult to handle.

"Lewis, however, is as usual; he's always on it, so I always see him as the championship favorite. "

The Chinese Grand Prix starts Sunday at 7:10 am (BST).
