Provincial Health Department spokesman Neil Shiwabana said the case was attributed to a Zimbabwean man who worked on a farm in the area.

Shiwabana says that the man recently returned home and began to feel bad.

He then visited a doctor on his return to South Africa.

"On his return, he became ill and was taken to the hospital.A statement was made and it was confirmed that it was a case of cholera", Shiwabana said.

He says the department has since conducted several studies to ensure that local drinking water is clean.

"There is no trace of cholera in the area.We always think that it is a case of transmitted disease."

Another migrant farm worker from Zimbabwe, who works and lives in Alldays, Limpopo, was diagnosed with cholera earlier this month.
