Solinas face uncertain future for Chiefs after Cup exit – The Citizen

Phakaaathi has learned that Kaizer Chiefs leadership is losing confidence in coach Giovanni Solinas and that the Italian mentor could be fired if things do not change.

This comes after Amakhosi was eliminated from the Telkom Knockout by bitter rivals Orlando Pirates this weekend.

The defeat against the Pirates means that the Chiefs have already lost two competitions this season: the MTN8 and the Telkom Knockout.

With the Nedbank Cup, the Absa Premiership and the Caf Confederation Cup still up for grabs, Amakhosi can still earn silver this season.

However, a source close to the leaders told Phakaaathi that Amakhosi's management feared it would be another barrel season for the club.

"After losing the MTN8, the management thought Solinas could win the Telkom Knockout, but it failed," the source said.

"What's worrying the management is that it seems that Solinas is still looking for combinations, even if he's been in the post since the beginning of the season. The Chiefs' management does not want another barrel season. They have invested a lot this season and they hope to see results. So expect an upcoming change in the coaching department if things do not change, "added the source.
