The Brazilian Football Federation (CBF) condemned racist abuses against Fernandinho and his family after the country's exit from the World Cup.

Five-time winner Brazil bowed 2-1 to Belgium in Kazan on Friday after Fernandinho scored a goal against his side in the first half.

Kevin De Bruyne scored a brilliant second place for the Belgians and, although Brazilian substitute Renato Augusto joined him, the Brazilians collapsed, with Fernandinho and his family now being targeted by the supporters.

Threats to his life and racist remarks provoked the indignation of many Brazilian fans on social media and the CBF added its support to the Manchester City midfielder by posting a statement on Instagram.

"The CBF repudiates the racist attacks on the player @fernandinho and their relatives," said the Brazilian government.

"Football represents the union of colors, genres, cultures and peoples, we are with you, racists will not pbad! #AllIguals #Brazilian Selection #SayNoToRacism #GigantesPorNatureza".

Fernandinho and his wife Glaucia Rosa were subjected to abuse and threats and the 33-year-old mother was forced to close her Instagram account due to offensive comments, it was reported.

As redes sociais do jogador @fernandinho estão repletas of ataques racistas and incitement to violência. A derrota do Brasil e o gol contra do attacante não justificam o racismo. Nada justifica o racism. Estamos com você #fernandinho #copadomundo #racismo #negros # neapoparrayo pic.twitter.com/jKFyc9nHCk

Mundo Negro, a website and magazine specializing in black culture, also offers support to Fernandinho and his family.

They posted a message under a picture of Fernandinho, who said: "The defeat of Brazil and its own goal do not justify racism, nothing justifies racism, we are with you Fernandinho.

Fernandinho was heavily criticized four years ago when he was replaced at half-time during Brazil's 7-1 defeat against Germany in the World Cup semi-finals 2014.
