CARDIFF – The South African hotel was evacuated on the eve of its 20-11 defeat in Wales following a bomb threat.
Other suspicions arose when, during a search at the Hilton in central Cardiff, police discovered a burka outfit, allegedly belonging to the Jesse Kriel Center.
Friday afternoon, while South Africa was training at the Stade de la Principauté, a suspicious package was discovered at the hotel teams.
It is believed that the cause of the suspicion – which turned out to be a false alarm – is a clock that turns in the laundry of an unknown member of the South African team.
The Hilton was evacuated and the police then went to the stadium to talk to the team.
Kriel and two other players were brought back to the hotel. After the search of their room, the burka was found.
It is understood that Kriel bought it for an evening after Saturday's match.
The three players and the South African squad have been warned by the police, but have escaped any punishment.
