Yellow fever increases to 7 states, 1,640 cases registered

Nigeria has registered more than 1,640 suspected yellow fever cases and 41 confirmed cases, according to the World Health Organization's (WHO) regional reference laboratory in Dakar, Senegal, the agency said National Primary Health Care Development (NPHCDA).

Shuaib, who said the government was ready to ensure the local production of vaccines, revealed that the federal government had committed to establish a benchmark laboratory in the country in the next six months to reduce logistical difficulties related to the transport of samples and waiting times of laboratories, as well as the response time and consequently the morbidity and mortality rates.
