The Google Assistant is about to be delivered to Sonos.

After having been announced in 2017The company disclosed in a letter to shareholders this week that it will release the much-needed feature on Sonos One and Beam devices next week via a software update.

Deployment will begin in the US before expanding to "more markets coming in the coming months," said Patrick Spence, CEO of Sonos, in the letter.

Both devices currently support Alexa from Amazon and can be controlled from Siri on iOS devices via AirPlay 2. The addition of Google offers a different alternative for those who are outside the respective ecosystems of Amazon and Apple.

"We believe that giving consumers choice is always the right decision, and we expect this philosophy to be adopted by the industry over time," Spence wrote.

In one demo with CNET At CES in January, Sonos confirmed that even though Google and Alexa will be available on Beam and One, you will not be able to switch between the two on the fly. Instead, users will need to choose which one they want to use during installation.
