After buying Fitbit, Google wants to know what you think of Wear OS

There’s no question that Google’s Wear OS platform could use a bit of work. From time to time, Google will update the operating system in an attempt to rekindle interest and bring it back to life. Last year, a few promising things were announced for Wear OS smartwatches, and Google’s recent purchase of Fitbit gives users hope that the company could focus its efforts on the wearable space. Now, a new survey from Google has also led users to believe that Google might turn a new leaf soon.

Reddit users noted that a new survey released to their phones read “Help us improve Wear OS by Google?” When users tapped on the notification, they were asked a question asking how satisfied they were with their smartwatch. It appears that not all Wear OS users are receiving the survey right now, and even those who did have been encountered with a seemingly empty survey, at least those who had their phones in dark mode. Apparently Google didn’t take into account how the text would be displayed in this setting. But fear not, like 9to5Google replied the survey with one of their own.

Those who responded to the survey were then taken to a questionnaire on a Google document, requesting their participation in a study on their habits with wearable technology.

It is certainly interesting to see Google taking an interest in even the slightest interest in Wear OS, although many consider its recent efforts too little, too late. Its offerings are often accompanied by those from Samsung and others when it comes to the best Android smartwatches. Hopefully, the acquisition of Fitbit will revive efforts to improve its operating system and better compete with Samsung and Apple.
