After hitting her head on a hike, a woman from NJ rescued by the “Modern Family” star

After hitting her head and passing out after hiking in Utah on Monday, Minnie John swore she heard a familiar voice consoling her as she came to her senses.

She couldn’t locate it, but John knew she had heard the voice before. It reminded her of the nights when she came home from a long day at work to watch ABC TV.

As a doctor bandaged her nose, John asked the woman if they had ever met. The smiling woman pulled her hair back and shook it, hoping to give John a hint.

“Can you guess?” the woman said to John, standing in front of her.

It turns out the Good Samaritan was Julie Bowen, the star of the hit sitcom “Modern Family”. John was stunned.

“Wow, you are beautiful! “I told him,” John said in an interview Saturday with NJ Advance Media.

After trekking through Arches National Park in an attempt to reach the iconic Delicate Arch, John, from Oradell, had become dizzy, having underestimated how strenuous the hike would be, she said. As she was getting dizzy, John, who was traveling with her husband and son, stopped along the trail and sat on a rock to gather, she said.

John said she was not a regular hiker and only brought a glass of water and was totally out of breath. But she didn’t want her family to miss the sight of the 52-foot-high arch, so John told them to go ahead without her while she was resting.

Before she knew it, John passed out and fell forward, injuring his face, she said.

“I leaned forward on my knees and held my head,” she said. “That’s all I remember.”

John had sat on the side of the trail where other hikers likely wouldn’t see her, she said. Luckily, Bowen, 51, and his sister Annie Luetkemeyer, an infectious disease doctor, had been hiking nearby.

They were also looking to reach the delicate arch, John said.

The two found John and took care of her, with Luetkemeyer bandaging John’s nose while Bowen assured John that she was fine and help was on the way, she said. As John regained consciousness, she realized that Bowen was someone familiar, although not someone she had ever met, she said.

“I kept hearing Julie talking and leading other people, telling me that I was fine,” John said. “My eyes focus on Julie and I kept saying ‘Are you sure I don’t know you?'”

After separating from Bowen and Luetkemeyer, John went to a local hospital, where she was treated for a broken nose and received five stitches, she said. On Saturday John was feeling well and recovering.

John credits God with the fact that Bowen and Luetkemeyer found her. She thanked the duo for their help, although she didn’t know her or what had happened.

“The moment you are all alone and you have no one, you have only God,” she said. “And God sent them. I wasn’t even lying there. They saw me fall and they caught up with me right away and they took care of me. Just like the Good Samaritan in the Bible.

And John – as soon as she felt stable – couldn’t pass up an opportunity to request a photo with the sitcom star. Bowen looked happy to oblige.
