After losing to Browns, Jets season could already be irretrievable

At least the New York Jets will not be the worst team in AFC East.

The Jets did not sink to the bottom of the Miami Dolphins, but they could not have gotten rid of Monday night's 23-3 loss to the Cleveland Browns, desperate for the rest of the season.

Quarterback Sam Darnold came out with mono. Trevor Siemian's replacement was not good, and he was stunned by an ankle injury. Third quarterback Luke Falk did not impress his NFL debut. And Adam Gase is not good enough coach to fix this mess.

The Jets are 0-2 and it's hard to see how much better. There are 14 games left to play.

The attack of the Jets was blocked against the Browns

The Jets had less than 13 passing yards in the first half. If you had the chance to not have watched Monday night, it was as ugly as you imagined.

Siemian was content to check each pass before Myles Garrett reached it and her leg was not bent. Siemian is out and Falk has come for his first shots of the NFL.

The Jets' attack was not very creative and conservative with Darnold during the first week and it was becoming a business card for Gase. It was not better in week 2. For a supposedly offensive guru, his faults in Miami and now in New York have not been very good.

Gase also committed a bad game management mistake at the end of the first half. The Jets were saved at their own 12-yard line. They launched a second incomplete pass and stopped the clock. The Jets then ran on the third run, leaving the Browns bumped to their last stop, and Cleveland had a short drive to a shot at goal in the last half-game. Instead of missing half, Gase gave Browns three points.

It did not matter because the Jets were not going to score much anyway, but that's the kind of mistake that does not inspire confidence in the new Jets head coach.

Jets at the wrong start 0-2

Even though Siemian's injury is not as bad as it seemed, nothing he did on Monday night should excite anyone. Falk completed a few passes (he finished 20 of his 25 goals for 198 yards) but failed to put the Jets in the end zone.

Seasons can be fast for teams. In Week 1, the Jets had a 16-0 lead over the Buffalo Bills. They blew that lead and lost. Then, Darnold was sidelined for the second week and he could be away for a moment. At the end of Monday night's game, it was difficult to pronounce encouraging words for the Jets fans. The season is still long and the Jets are already at their lowest.

The Jets have to regroup because during the third week, they play (check marks) … at the New England Patriots. Sip.
