After a shooting in a Trenton bar last night that left nine injured, a city official called for an end to the violence.

"This kind of carnage should not be normal," said Councilor Jerell Blakeley. "Too often, when the weather is mild, violence is surfacing in this city. This capital needs help.

The shooting took place at Ramoneros Liquor & Bar (formerly J & J Liquor & Bar and Stokes bar) around 1:30 Saturday, officials said. Police said the ambulances took five men and five women to local hospitals. One victim was seriously injured and two men were operated on urgently, he said.

The tenth protector, a woman who went to the hospital, was not shot and wounded. It is thought that she had an abrasion injury, said City spokeswoman Santiago Melli-Huber. The police expect everyone to survive.

All are supposed to survive.

Police are still looking for a black SUV that has been seen running away.

"I have enough that this city can not enjoy a beautiful spring day without the prospect of absolute chaos and carnage committed by a dissolute and nasty minority", added Blakeley. "They must be arrested."

The shooting in the bar occurred three days after Taquan Ellerbe, the grandson of 18-year-old deputy mayor Andrew Bobbitt, was shot in the first block of Bellevue Avenue . The killing of Ellerbe is the fourth homicide involving a resident of Trenton this month, for a total of five in 2019.

In June 2018, a shootout at an art festival in Trenton injured nearly 30 people and an alleged gunman was shot and killed by police officers.
