Wendy Williams has tested positive for COVID-19, and the season 13 premiere of her eponymous talk show has been postponed until next month.
The program produced by Debmar-Mercury announced Williams’ diagnosis on its official Instagram account late Wednesday afternoon.
“While continuing her health assessments, Wendy tested positive for a groundbreaking case of COVID-19,” the show’s statement said. “To give Wendy time to quarantine and fully recover and to ensure our production is fully compliant with SAG / AFTRA and DGA Covid protocols, we plan to begin the 13th season of the Wendy Williams Show on Monday, October 4th. In the meantime, reruns will be scheduled.
Last week, the Instagram account reported that the National Radio Hall of Famer had canceled all promotional appearances for the show due to “ongoing health concerns.”
In March 2020, the 57-year-old divorcee categorically told Dr Oz that she would not be vaccinated.
“No. I don’t trust him,” Williams said. “I’ve never had the flu shot either, and you and I have talked about it. Several doctors on my team have said to me, ‘Wendy, get the flu shot I have never had the flu I don’t get the flu shot I very rarely have a cold I never have a headache I don’t take flu shots “aspirin because I feel my heart pounding or something. I don’t understand – no! I don’t believe it. There I said it.”
In May, however, the Asbury Park, NJ native announced that her live studio audience could return to her Chelsea set on June 1 – only if he was fully vaccinated.
On Emmy-nominated catfest, the brutally honest lifelong biopic, and in his best-selling autobiography, Williams openly discussed some of his health issues, including drug addiction, Graves’ disease, and lymphedema.
