Aged five, tossed the mall Mall of America

A five-year-old boy who, five months ago, was ejected from the third-floor balcony of the Mall of America Mall in Minnesota by a stranger returned from hospital on Tuesday, according to his family.

Landen Hoffman's family announced on GoFundMe that the boy had completed his inpatient rehabilitation and was now at home. He will enter "the next phase of his recovery" and will benefit from outpatient rehabilitation for "several injuries and will adapt to his life at home and at school."

"Thank you to everyone who has prayed for us and loved us over the last four and a half months," said the family. "You have helped to give us hope and to show us the glory of God's great love here on earth, even in the darkest days."

The boy's family said in August that he had been transferred from the intensive care unit of the hospital to a rehabilitation program. The child had to undergo several surgeries for head trauma and fracture since the irruption.

In April, a man who knew neither Landen nor his family, took him by one arm and threw him to nearly six meters from the third floor balcony of the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota . This man – Emmanuel Aranda, 25, – was charged with attempted murder with premeditation after his arrest in the April 12 incident. He pleaded guilty in May and was sentenced to 19 years in prison.

Aranda reportedly told investigators that he had gone to the mall "in search of someone to kill" after women had previously rejected his advances several times. Aranda filed a notice Friday to appeal his case to the Minnesota Court of Appeal. The notice did not result in a call, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reported.
