It's an exciting day for Air France and Airbus.

Air France takes delivery of the first A350

Air France took delivery today of its first Airbus A350-900. The company plans to take delivery of 28 aircraft in total by 2025. It therefore seems normal that the French airline finally has in its fleet the new model of the most popular Airbus widebody.

The airline notes that the aircraft will reduce fuel consumption by 25%, CO2 emissions by 25% and noise emissions by 40%.

The Air France A350s have a total of 324 seats. What to expect?

Air France A350 Business Class

Air France's A350 business class will have 34 seats. What is interesting is that, while the airline installs inverted chevron seats on the majority of its large aircraft, it chooses new seats for this type of aircraft.

The Air France A350s have Zodiac Optima seats in business class, identical to those of United.

The Air France A350s will be equipped with two-meter-long beds with 18.5-inch HD touchscreens, providing passengers with more than 1,400 hours of entertainment.

Why would Air France install different business class seats on the A350, creating even more product inconsistencies? Remember that these planes would initially go to Joon, the low cost carrier of Air France, which has since been abandoned.

I imagine they wanted these seats for Joon because they take up less space than the inverted chevron seats, and Air France just maintained its previous order.

So it's a solid business class seat, but I would not say it's better than their inverted chevron seats.

Air France A350 Premium Economy

The Air France A350 Premium Economy will have 24 seats. Premium Economy seats have a height of 96 cm, a width of 48 cm and a tilt of 124 degrees. They will be equipped with 13.3 "HD touch screens.

Bottom line

The A350 is one of my favorite planes in the sky and it's a pleasure to fly as a passenger. In fact, I even have a preference for it compared to the 787. It's exciting to see this aircraft join the fleet of Air France, because it is beautiful in its livery Air France.

I find it really curious that Air France is introducing new business class seats on the A350s because that means that Air France now has four types of business class long-haul seats (and even five if you want be technical because they have two types of inclined seats).

What do you do with the new Air France A350?
