Airline passenger arrested after loud racist rant and growling

Las Vegas man arrested and cited as a result a confusing scene on board a flight. The man could be seen arguing with the captain, growling at the flight attendants and chewing on a face mask.

American Airlines Flight 1802 took off from Los Angeles, Calif., To Salt Lake City, Utah on Monday. At some point in the flight, reports NBC News, a man from Las Vegas decided to harass a woman sitting next to him. Another passenger saw the interaction wane, from NBC News:

“He started off by yelling at the Asian woman across from me to sit down as she stood to deal with a back problem,” he said. “He started telling several flight attendants that she and her companion“ had no place here. ”After asking her to calm down, the man completely collapsed from racist, sexist and belligerent comments , resulting in his arrest at the gate.

But it didn’t end there and they filmed a video of the meeting.

The person asking the unruly passenger to sit appears to be the captain of the plane. Stewardess are usually the ones dealing with these kinds of passengers and it is not clear how the captain got involved. In the video, the passenger could be heard arguing with the captain over whether the plane had landed or not. The captain assures him that the plane is still flying. He could also, you know, look out a window.

The passenger ends up obeying the order and stumbles back to his seat, getting rid of a few ramblings on Joe Biden and cursing the flight crew on the way. But that wasn’t the end as he started to growl like an animal and chew on his face mask.

As we have already noted, the FAA try to crack down on the growing problem of drunk and terrible people on a plane. He tries to get concessions from the airport that he stops serving take out alcohol. The regulator also assesses significant fines to unruly passengers but says that these people are rarely criminally charged with anything. It seems to be changing.

Unruly travelers can still face fees and penalties even if they don’t hit a flight attendant. As for this passenger, he was arrested in Salt Lake City and charged with public intoxication and disorderly conduct.
