AJ Hawk on Aaron Rodgers: “I always feel like he’s going to be in Green Bay.”

With a cigar in hand, former Green Bay Packers linebacker AJ Hawk joined the Pat McAfee Show to talk about his week with Aaron Rodgers and how he thinks Rodgers’ offseason is finally ending. A former teammate who spent time with the quarterback is a good temperature test for the outlook the domestic reporters have given, so let’s dive right in.

On the Rodgers mentality during their week of golf, boating and catching play, Hawk said, “He wanted to win. You can see when someone wants to win. I think he was very happy to have won. He loves competition. Is this a guy who is going to sit down and retreat with you? In some ways, that answers the question of whether Rodgers would actually want to retire, given his options.

When asked if Rodgers would play for Green Bay this season, Hawk said, “I don’t know. What did I say from the start? I said I didn’t see him playing anywhere else, did I? He also added, “I don’t see Green Bay trading it.” I do not see this happening. I don’t know how it’s got to work, but yeah, I still feel like he’s going to be in Green Bay.

If Rodgers retires, he’s doing a terrible job of showing he’s ready to retire at this point. Reading the tea leaves, between the national reports and the reports of people who have active direct conversations with him, it looks like we are probably heading towards a situation where Rodgers will show up to training camp in less than two weeks.
