The Emmy winner announced his diagnosis on “Today”. “This is good news, bad news,” Roker said. “The good news is we caught it early. It’s not good news, is that it’s a bit aggressive, so I’ll take some time to deal with that.”
Roker said the cancer was discovered during a routine exam.
“It’s a little more common than I think people realize, so I just decided I wanted to make it public because one in nine men are diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime.” , Roker said. “But for African American men, that number is one in seven and is more deadly, so if you catch it early on, it’s a really treatable disease and that’s why I wanted to accompany you on my journey so that we may we all learn together. ”
