Florida’s No.11 hosts Alabama’s No.1 on Saturday afternoon in a rematch of last season’s SEC Championship game. This will be the Crimson Tide’s first trip to Gainesville, Fla. In a decade as the two most frequent participants of the SEC title game meet in a rare regular season showdown. The Tide dominated the Gators last season en route to a national championship, and the winner of Saturday’s game will certainly have an indoor track to make a meaningful playoff appearance.
Alabama quarterback Bryce Young established himself as one of the first Heisman Trophy favorites in the first two games of the season, with throws of 571 yards, seven touchdowns and no interceptions with a score of passer of 180.10. His emergence as a difference maker has allayed the fears of Bama fans after losing so many starts for the squad last year. Florida quarterback Emory Jones, meanwhile, threw four interceptions in two games, and the hot topic this season has been Jones’ poor play versus substitute Anthony Richardson’s electric playmaker talent. Both quarterbacks have the ability to make plays on the ground, but the pitch will have to be stretched if Florida is to cause the upheaval.
