Alan Wake Remastered Now Has A Control Easter Egg

And maybe more?

Alan Wake remastered has a Control Easter Egg and We Start To Worry Remedy creates some kind of real world paradox that will destroy us all.

Inside “Chapter 2: Taken” and the “Bright Falls Sheriff’s Station” checkpoint, Stevivor noticed a letter in Sheriff Sarah Breaker’s office. Below you can see images of the desktop in the Xbox 360 2010 version of Alan wake and the 2021 Xbox Series X version of Alan Wake remastered. In the latter case, the camera rotates a bit so that you can view the document, which was not necessary in the original.

The letter is addressed to a Sheriff Breaker, but not to Sarah; it is rather intended for his father Frank. This is where it starts to get interesting.

In the 2010s Alan wake we learned that Frank Breaker was a former cop in New York City, but he was never said to be the Sheriff of Bright Falls; these lines of dialogue remain unchanged in Alan Wake remastered.

Later in Control, we learned that Frank was an agent of the Federal Bureau of Control, under the command of then chief William Kirklund. This new letter, by the way? It’s from Kirklund.

The events of Chapter 2 take place on September 9, four full days before Control establishes that Kirklund has been made aware of the Altered World Event (AWE) Alan Wake is launching in Bright Falls. In Control lore, it is Breaker himself who tells Kirklund about the bizarre events of September 13th.

As to what all this means, we don’t know. It could be just an interesting little treat, or something more sinister. In Control, Thomas Zane was considered a filmmaker rather than a poet; now Breaker is a sheriff and / or an agent of the FBC. What is happening?

By all accounts, this is happening again.
