A few days after announcing the birth of her son, singer Alanis Morissette shared a picture of herself breastfeeding online – and acknowledged that it was not always an easy task.

"Like an insect in a milky carpet," writes the Grammy winner with a hashtag saying, "Not always easy like hello."

Morissette, 45, welcomed her third child, Winter Mercy Morissette-Treadway, to the world on August 8th. She announced her birth on Instagram shortly after and showed Saturday a picture of him feeding.

The social media publication encouraged breastfeeding because it used an emoji, a breastfeeding mother, and tagged various people and groups who promoted the act: stop maternity censorship, pumping station and diet, normalize breastfeeding and breastfeeding with Badass milk.

The newborn is Morissette's third child with her husband, rapper Mario Treadway. The couple has another son, Ever Imrie, 8, and a 2-year-old girl, Onyx Solace.

The 45-year-old singer-songwriter revealed her pregnancy on Instagram in March.
