SEATAC, Wash .– An Alaska Airlines flight from New Orleans had to evacuate shortly after landing at Sea-Tac Airport due to a cell phone fire Monday night, officials said.

At approximately 8:30 p.m., the Port of Seattle Fire Department responded to a report of a fire in the cargo hold of Flight 751.

Alaska Airlines officials said based on a preliminary investigation, as the plane waited for a departure gate, a passenger’s cell phone caught fire.

Crews used a battery containment bag and extinguished the blaze, officials said.

Once the fire was under control, 128 passengers and six crew members evacuated the plane safely. Some passengers were slightly injured.

Passengers boarded the buses to the terminal.

Some passengers sent photos of the interior of the plane as it was filled with smoke.

Officials said the plane was towed to a departure gate and there was no impact on airport operations.

Airline officials said the plane is a 737-900.
