The New York Attorney General’s report into Governor Andrew Cuomo’s alleged sexual harassment may just be the beginning, as Albany County Prosecutor David Soares has confirmed his office has launched a criminal investigation into the Democratic governor.
Soares said after the release of Attorney General Letitia James’ report that his office was reviewing the allegations against Cuomo for possible criminal charges.

“I think after today’s presentation… it’s pretty clear that we have an obligation here, and so we contacted the Attorney General’s office to research all the evidence they discovered and used to draft their report, “Soares told NBC. “Evening news.”
Fox News contacted Cuomo’s office for comment, but did not immediately respond. Following the attorney general’s announcement of the findings of his investigation, the governor released a video statement denying the wrongdoing.

Soares said the allegations against Cuomo had led him and other prosecutors “to believe that criminal activity did indeed take place” but that his office would investigate before making any decisions on how to go forward.
To do this, however, prosecutors need a formal complaint, which requires the cooperation of at least one of the women, Soares said. His office has contacted some of them, but said so far they have not been able to reach any.
“For any victim viewing this transmission, please contact our office and we will conduct our investigation as quietly as possible,” he said.

A total of 11 women made allegations against Cuomo, including nine government employees, past or present. The allegations ranged from accusations of inappropriate comments to non-consensual trial and error.
Investigators in the attorney general’s investigation said the allegations were strongly corroborated. They said Tuesday they spoke to 179 people and reviewed more than 74,000 pages of documents as part of their investigation.
