The much mixed Brave New World The TV series has taken a new start with some important news about the casting: Alden Ehrenreich, last seen piloting the Millennium Falcon Solo: A story of Star Wars, will play the lead character John the Savage, the stranger who upsets the status quo in Aldous Huxley's latest dystopian novel.
Just a few months ago, it seemed like Brave New World The adaptation would head to USA Network, but Deadline, who shared the news of Ehrenreich's cast, also has an update on this front, noting that the series – originally scheduled for Syfy before being taken over in the US – " is now widespread as a potential flagship series for the NBCU streaming platform, scheduled for launch in 2020. "
We do not know if the series – which will be written by Fear the undeadDavid Wiener (who will also act), Grant Morrison and Bryan Taylor – will change the framework of Huxley's 1932 novel about a utopian society in 2540 that is not as utopian as it seems (are they?). But even if it is not the case, Brave New WorldFuturistic Themes (a bit like George Orwell's 1984) always have a way of feeling terribly contemporary. The series is scheduled to run 10 episodes, with Black Mirror: San JuniperoOwen Harris (one of the executive producers of the show, along with Morrison and Wiener, among others), making at least the first installment.
With Ehrenreich on board, we will probably hear even more about Brave New World as it moves towards what looks like a streaming debut, probably next year.
