Aldi flour reminder: the company recalls flour because of possible E. coli contamination

More flour is recalled in an outbreak of E. Coli that has sickened more than a dozen people in eight states. King Arthur Flour recalls 14,218 cases of King Arthur all-purpose flour unbleached due to the potential presence of E. Coli, announced Thursday the US Food and Drug Administration. The recalled product was distributed by retailers and distributors nationwide, including Walmart.

Archer Daniels Midland told King Arthur that the wheat used in the recalled flour had been associated with "an outbreak of E. coli infections," said King Arthur. "No disease has been reported to date in relation to King Arthur's flour." Centers for Disease Control and Prevention at the end of May reported that 17 people in eight states reported being sick after eating flour.

The reminder refers to the following six batches of code and the three most used dates, located on the bottom panel, under the Nutritional Information Panel:

The last recall was nearly three weeks after Aldi's recall of Bakers Corner all-purpose flour, sold in stores in 11 US states due to possible E. coli contamination. Bags of five pounds of flour must either be discarded or returned to the store for a refund, the company said in a statement.

The flour, manufactured by ADM, was sold in several states, including Connecticut, Delaware, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont and West Virginia. .

Consumers should not consume raw flour-based products because wheat may carry a risk of bacteria, the company said in a statement. Baking, frying or boiling will kill the bacteria, but consumers should also wash their hands, work surfaces and utensils after contact with raw flour, the company said.
