Looks like Nathan Eovaldi will be back for the Boston Red Sox as soon as possible.
The Red Sox pitcher threw a marker at Fenway Park on Wednesday and played 27 shots on Friday before the Boston Dodgers game. Eovaldi apparently had no problem with one or the other session and Alex Cora spoke of the next steps for the 29-year-old.
"I just talked to him and he felt good," Cora told reporters, via Chris Cotillo of MassLive. "We'll see what's next. A live BP or a rehabilitation mission, we'll talk about it. At least today, he felt good.
Eovaldi may need a short rehab period before returning to the Sox as a new rookie on the team, but Cora noted that this is something he will need to "define" during of the week to come.
"That's what we're trying to understand now," said Cora. "" He launched Wednesday, he launched today. We will map the rest of the week and leave from there. He feels good. He was able to bounce back from Wednesday. Today, he has launched the ball without any problem. It's a good sign.
Eovaldi has been on the injured list since mid-April and underwent a successful elbow surgery the same month.
