So. Alex Ovechkin scored his 40th goal of the season.

Guess where.

The captain himself shot the penalty, a trip from Hampus Lindholm. The powerplay game was only a second off the expiration when John Carlson's pass found room for Ovi.

Ducks goalie Ryan Miller had no chance.

There were hugs.

At just 59 games of the season, Ovechkin has once again scored 40 goals. This is the tenth time he has come here, joining the company of only three other NHL players: Wayne Gretzky, who has made it 12 times; and Marcel Dionne and Mario Lemieux, who have done 10 seasons.

Ovechkin has a four-goal lead over Jeff Skinner of Buffalo in the Rocket Richard race.
