Alex Trebek’s wife posts wedding photo, thanks fans for support

Alex Trebek’s wife, Jean Trebek, thanked fans for their support on Wednesday, days after the “Jeopardy!” the host died following a battle with stage 4 pancreatic cancer.

“My family and I sincerely thank you for your compassionate messages and generosity,” Jean wrote captioned an Instagram photo from the couple’s wedding day.

“Your expressions really touched our hearts. Thank you very much, ”she continued. “Many blessings to all, Jean Trebek.”

The couple married in 1990 and were parents to son Matthew, 30, and daughter Emily, 27. Trebek was previously married to Elaine Callei from 1974 to 1981.

Trebek died Sunday at the age of 80.

She was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in March 2019, but Jean noticed symptoms beforehand.

During a family trip to Israel in December 2018, Jean said that “Trebek’s coloring appeared to be off,” she detailed in a 2020 essay for Guideposts. After seeing a doctor and having a CT scan, the family heard the news.

“Pancreatic cancer with a tumor that had spread to the soft lining of her stomach. Stage IV, ”wrote Jean. “I felt like the bottom was falling out of my world.”

But she also wrote optimistically: “This was not to be a death sentence. It could be a life sentence. A constant reminder of the value of life. “

In the wake of Trebek’s death, countless tributes poured in, including posts from Ryan Reynolds, John Legend, and the former “Jeopardy!” champion Ken Jennings.
